What I learned at CCA

I decided to come back to school to get my diploma so that I can attend Ogle beauty school. I came to CCA thinking, "Hey, I just need a few credits to get this behind me and move on to Ogle. I can just breeze through this and get my diploma." Boy, was I wrong!

CCA is not about just doing your work. It is a place that is about building your character, building your relationship with God, and building friends and family. Every day I walked in the door, I quickly realized there was more going on than school work. Some days, I was all for the prayer and Bible. I was also always happy about the snacks! But there were days when students who may not have easy lives, kind of like me, would come in with tragedies. The death of a brother, sister, or friend by gun war, or they lost a parent to cancer. To see and hear the hurt and agony in their hearts opened me up to see how selfish my mindset was.

CCA is not about just doing your work. It is a place that is about building...your character, your relationship with God, and with friends and family.

How could I have just come here thinking I just wanted to do a few assignments and move on? I couldn’t just smile my way to success and forget about my original passion in life. I wanted to be able to transform people’s images. In order to do that, I had to first SEE their image, and care for the most important thing about them. Their heart.

CCA helped me begin to care much more for others and turn my attention in prayer for others more than myself. I had not realized that future doctors, actors, and brothers and sisters were sitting next to me on APEX, just a conversation, hug, or prayer away from something that could TRULY transform their image.

CCA helped me begin to care much more for others and turn my attention in prayer for others more than myself.

Encouragement is what I learned at CCA. Love is what I learned at CCA. A family is what was built here. The teachers and students have so much compassion, and there is nothing here to tear a person down, but to build them up was the challenge. THAT truly transforms us all.

Even when I decided to finish online from home so that I could provide for my family, I still felt the love from all of my CCA family. I’m forever in debt to them and I plan on paying the students and staff back by achieving my goal in becoming the best MUA/Esthetician you have ever met! And I’ll do us all a favor by keeping Ms. Sally looking young for free for the rest of her life. ;)
